So after some thought, I have decided to create a Tumblr devoted to my love of fashion. Seeing that most of my posts here are about fashion anyway, I figure I'll just make a whole blog about it. And Tumblr is just easier to follow people around and vice versa. I know you Blogspot lovers are probably gasping at my betrayal, but have no fear! I will continue to use this blog for other random things that I like. But anything about fashion...you can go to The Modiste. Ooohh ahh...yea, fun name.

I'm always and have been really into sheer clothing. It seems as if she's wearing a black high waisted bathing suit underneath her dress. I wouldn't mind wearing something like this to the beach. Love this.

My favorite season of the year is almost here! Too bad the fall season doesn't last very long in Norman, but I enjoy it nevertheless. I always look forward to wearing more layers, and feeling not too hot or cold. I love the falling leaves, like rain, but softer. I love feeling snuggly with oversize sweaters, light peacoat, my boots, and a scarf that hangs loosely around my neck. I love that soft slightly chilly wind that wisps up my hair, but not so rough that I can't see and turns my hair into a bird's nest. I love the dark, deep, and warm colors that autumn brings into my life. And lastly, the weather always gives me an excuse to drink hot tea lattes, while warming up my fingers. 

Out of all of these looks, I really want to wear more stockings and tights. I have always loved the balance of heavy layers on top, and bare legs, but I get cold easily, so stockings would be nice. Also, I am definitely in love with that round tortoise shell readers, however that specific frame is 190 euros, which is about $274! Since I have a square face, I've been on the hunt for round glasses, but not too round, and these are PERFECT. And yes, you saw it correctly. I'm on the lookout for some materials to make a single long chain earring. It's definitely a stand-out piece, which would be fun to wear while it's lightly breezy. The short haircut is quite drastic for me, but I've always wanted a really short hair cut, and although my skin color does not allow it, I would want it to be platinum blond. If I was fair skin, the blond hair would make me feel so refreshing, and would stand out like crazy with my dark color clothing. I'm really considering about cutting my hair completely short with long bangs after I graduate or possibly sooner for a fresh start. 

If you can't tell, I'm itching for a shopping fest.

I wish I was born or lived in New York. Anyone who is in New York right now should be at the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the Met. I feel like this is a rare opportunity for the public to see his work so close to their face. After seeing these beautiful photos from Garance Dore's blog, I just wanted to cry, wishing I was at the Met right now. McQueen had such a beautiful vision for his clothes. He created tangible and wearable beauty that anyone would feel like a shiny jewel wearing his art. The last image is from a fragment of a wallpaper, which the image is from McQueen's sketchbook. Imagine if my wall was covered in his sketches! If I am blown away from Garance's photos, I can not imagine how I would react if I was at the Met right now. I think I would faint.

Have you ever seen an outfit on a stranger, a model, even a mannequin, and gasped at its beautiful sight, and you just want to quickly grab their clothes and wear it yourself? You inch your hands forward, wishing somehow it would appear in between your fingers. You're convinced that it's such a wonderful ensemble that you seriously could wear it every day and it would just feel...right? Sigh. That is exactly how I felt when I went on my daily fashion blog run on Nicole Warne of Gary Pepper Vintage, and saw her wear this. 

I almost died.

The partly sheer white classic shirt paired with the high waisted lime skirt is very refreshing and fitting for the spring that is coming up for her (she's from Australia!). The sheer part of the white dress shirt adds sort of an edge to the classic piece that is unexpected when it is underneath the green peacoat. Speaking of the peacoat, I've always wanted a fitted green peacoat. I say fitted because often time people buy peacoats that are way too big (ha, I did and still wear it) and is not fitted around the waist. Also, having the white color peeping out of the peacoat is so dainty. The matching green suede heels brings the outfit together, since it is the smallest item that is matching with the largest piece, which is the coat. Also, note her lime green nails that is brighter than her skirt. What you see here is 3 shades of green that varies in light, dark, dull, and bright, which are paired with a neutral white. In addition, her dark hair and black purse also goes together. What a beautiful balance of colors that allows your eyes to dance around the outfit as though it is a painting!

Another simple reason why I love this outfit is because this is exactly something I would wear. The style is sophisticated, classic, yet it still has an edge that causes double-takes. I believe Nicole bought most, if not all, of her outfit at Zara. I went into a Zara in Italy, and I got to say, Zara is a master at having classic pieces in blocks of color that are very versatile. 

If I was wearing this outfit right now, I would be at a coffee shop reading a book, while waiting for a friend for lunch, and then after take a nice walk around town. That is how this outfit makes me feel: serene, dainty, and sophisticated. 

peachy inspiration

For the fall or winter season, I have always loved the idea of layering on top and having my legs exposed to the wind and chilly air. This lady looks absolutely fantastic with her peach and gray combo. That sharp pointed collar over her thick gray sweater makes her look put together, but not stuffy. Having a long neck also helps. I saw this outfit on the Satorialist this morning, and I've concluded that I must achieve this same look soon since fall, which is my favorite season, is coming up fast!

I think the reason why I didn't like the Notebook the first time I watched it because I knew a love like that couldn't exist. I have watched it two more time since then, and I have come to like it more and more every time I watch it, but I still don't love it. I never really connected with romantic movies and preferred action movies or movies that involve puzzles, like A Beautiful Mind, Sherlock Holmes, or the Prestige, only because I didn't want to fall into the trap of believing what I see in movies were real. 

However, in the past three years, I learned, laughed, and cried, fell in love, fallen out of love, and growing - always growing. For some time now, I have been in this dream-like state, imagining what my future home would look like, the countries I would travel to, the person that I would be able to share it with, and then I'm stuck thinking about that special person. Whenever I think about what would truly make me happy, only two images come to mind. The first thought is traveling around the world, sinking myself into the culture, meeting new people, and learning their language. It then quickly goes to an image of a room full of natural lighting and a bed of soft white sheets, with my husband and I reading books, sharing each other's stories, even though we have no idea what the other book is really about, and talk about where we would like to travel next. And then I'm back in my old room. 

To continue with my daydream, I am absolutely in love with Ruche's lookbook. They actually shot these photos at the lake where the Notebook was shot. I have looked through this lookbook three times, and only wish I was her. And that bike! I don't know how to ride a bike well, but if I had one, that would be it, and I would fill it up with flowers every single time I ride it. Well, summer is finally here, and this summer, I'll be sure to fill it up with dresses, flowers, pink lipsticks, and, of course, a nice book.
